The Australian Curriculum sets consistent national standards to improve learning outcomes for all young Australians. ACARA acknowledges the gap in learning outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their non-Indigenous peers. It recognises the need for the Australian Curriculum to provide every opportunity possible to ‘close the gap’.

This guide is designed to raise cultural awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous Australian) cultures. The guide incorporates resources to support the implementation of culturally appropriate practices for the inclusion of indigenous children in educational settings. From The University of Melbourne.

Reconciliation Australia was established in 2001 and is the lead body for reconciliation in the nation. They are an independent not-for-profit organisation that promotes and facilitates reconciliation by building relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
